The Darkroom City Tour: San Francisco 2026

Over the years, one of the most requested cities for our Darkroom City Tour has been San Francisco. We’ve been hosting these meetups for five years now, and in 2026, it’s finally happening. We’re coming to San Francisco, and we couldn’t be more excited to spend the weekend with the film community.

We’ll have three different public opportunities to meet up across Friday and Saturday, and as always, we’ll be bringing along a great film crew.

Below you’ll find all of the event details and signup links. Please note that each event requires a separate signup, space is limited, and tickets tend to go fast. Be sure to sign up for any event you want to attend as soon as possible to secure your spot.

Event Essentials:

As you prepare for the upcoming film photography events in San Francisco, here are a few tips to ensure you have a great time:

1. Keep an Eye on the Weather: March in San Francisco can be cool and changeable (sun, wind, and a surprise sprinkle all in the same hour). Check the forecast as the weekend gets closer and plan for layers.

2. Comfortable Walking Shoes: San Francisco has hills. Your feet will notice. Wear comfortable shoes you can walk in for a while.

3. Bring Plenty of Film (duh): You’ll have plenty of chances to shoot, so bring more film than you think you’ll need. Whether you’re shooting 35mm or 120, it’s always better to have extra on hand. And of course, we’d love to see what you make, so be sure to tag us, @thedarkroomlab / #thedarkroomlab_SF26!

4. Hotel Tips: If you’re coming from out of town, consider staying near public transit (BART/Muni) to make getting around easy. Neighborhoods like South San Francisco, Daly City, and areas outside the downtown core can often be more budget-friendly while still being a quick ride into the city.

Beloved by few and hated by most, Jason Kummerfeldt is a California-based YouTuber and “photographer” with almost a decade of film photography under his belt and nothing good to show for it. He also owes me money.

She shoots about forty weddings a year, all over the world, and is known for an artistic style, embracing an analog approach. Teri resides on the Oregon Coast and enjoys rainy days, collecting vinyl records and ghost hunting tv shows. A rare morning person; happiest with coffee, a camera and exploring somewhere new.

Caleb Knueven
