Great but not versatile
This film is wonderful when purposely shooting to highlight contrast. It is not versatile, but I think that is the point. Very fine grain and high clarity. Get experimenting!
Fantome Kino souped in D-96
My film journey was a bit strange, the sequence was: digital, large format (for about 10 years), MF and recently 35mm.
The first scans of Fantome Kino blew me away, no grain…smooth and I’d have had trouble telling them from a 4×5 scan.
In California there’s enough light to shoot, even overcast or shaded doorways, with a fast enough lens 1.4-2.8.
I developed in Cinestil D-96 and have great mid-tones, or can choose to take my scan towards higher contrast. Subjects have been, New Topographic, bayside, relics….I’ll share a few scans in the image section.
Beautiful film
Well I don’t see a lot of feedback on this one, but I personally loved this film. I received the roll as a Christmas gift and finally mustered up the courage to try it. It’s beautiful, intense in contrast, and almost is dreamy in it’s whites. Would highly recommend a go!
