Megan Barrett is an analog photographer working out of San Diego, California. While going to school for marine biology, Megan realized that the work that she loved the most was microscopic imaging where she was able to capture the tiny organisms she was studying in the lab. After picking up a Nikonos camera, she began photographing what she would see on local dives in La Jolla and Laguna. From there Megan expanded into surf photography. Megan now shoots a range of water photography, from sea lion images published by National Geographic, to surf images published by Surfer Magazine. She shoots exclusively on film with natural light, using the small waterproof rangefinder cameras, the Nikonos III and V, and a Pentax 6×7 when shooting on land. In her images she hopes to capture the relationship between water and light, and inspire people’s respect and passion for the ocean.
