LomoChrome Classic Color 200 is a C-41 color negative film introduced in late 2025, offering a modern yet understated take on classic color film. With an ISO of 200 and DX coding for automatic ISO detection, it’s a versatile stock designed to perform well across a wide range of lighting conditions while maintaining a distinctly analogue feel.

When we first shot Classicolor 200, we went in completely blind. No sample images, no spec sheets, no expectations. We simply loaded it up and went shooting. The results were pleasantly surprising. In overcast or flat light, the film leans toward softer, slightly muted tones with a calm, restrained palette. In bright sunlight, however, it comes alive. Colors open up, with more saturation and bolder tones.

Contrast is medium to low, giving the film a forgiving, flexible look that holds onto detail in both highlights and shadows. Grain is more noticeable than you might expect for a 200 ISO film, especially in 35mm, but it feels intentional and very much part of the film’s character rather than a drawback. Skin tones show a gentle warmth, making it a solid option for everyday shooting, environmental portraits, and general walk-around photography.

Classicolor 200 is a highly usable film in mixed lighting and has enough latitude to be pushed or pulled for different results. It handles both direct sunlight and gloomier conditions well, shifting its personality depending on the scene rather than locking you into a single look. That adaptability, paired with its unique color response, makes it stand apart from many other ISO 200 color negative films on the market.

Overall, LomoChrome Classicolor 200 feels fun, different, and refreshingly unpredictable in a good way. It’s a film we enjoyed shooting and one we’d happily load again. If you’re looking for a 200 speed color negative film with subtle tones, moderate contrast, visible grain, and a look that changes with the light, Classicolor 200 is well worth trying.
