Kodak Pro Image 100 Review

If Ektar and Portra had a baby, it’d be Kodak Pro Image 100. This 100 ISO C-41 color negative film delivers sharp, fine grain similar to Ektar 100, but its color palette leans more toward Portra 160 – natural and balanced, though not quite as warm. It’s often described as the sweet spot between the two: combining Ektar’s crispness with Portra’s forgiving latitude.

Kodak Pro Image 100 is a fantastic alternative to both Ektar and Portra, especially considering its price. It’s considerably more affordable while offering comparable image quality, making it one of the best value options in Kodak’s professional lineup.

This film handles daylight beautifully, producing medium contrast, moderate saturation, and that unmistakable classic Kodak look – thanks to its VR emulsion heritage. Its fine grain and excellent exposure latitude make it well-suited for travel, portraits, and everyday shooting, even in challenging lighting situations.

While it’s not as common or widely available as Portra or Ektar, those who shoot it tend to swear by it. We especially recommend it for point and shoot cameras or photographers who want a clean, reliable, and slightly nostalgic film with great tonal balance.

You can pick up Kodak Pro Image 100 at FilmPhotographyStore.com — a great place to grab a few rolls and see why this underrated gem deserves more attention.

I like the more saturated colors of this film, the reds pop. Pretty fine grain, nice pro looking film for a decent price.

For those times where you don’t want to rip into an $8-9 roll of Portra 160 or 400, Pro Image is the perfect alternative without sacrificing much. Colors are bright, there is no need to overexpose for good tones unlike Ultramax. This has become my go to color film for everyday shooting.
